In Pursuit of God, Chtp. 2 he goes over the trial of Abraham. How, although Abraham was special, God had to put EVEN him to the test, TEN tests actually (the Jews say) then the CRUCIBLE “sacrifice your only son, the one you love.”
Because Abraham was special, he got THIS test.
I’m sure it ripped his heart out, but what if Abraham failed? What if Abraham placed his only son above the commandment of the Lord?– I believe God would have found someone else, later on, but maybe the outlook of History would be different . . . HE surely would not be “the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
If I could just get to the root… I bet it’s probably something in me that I need to have ironed out.
Our decisions matter to God… in an overly important way, that maybe, we NEVER even realize. Not that we are necessary to him, but that we matter, He cares more than I can think he does.
WHO AM I, to think I would get any lesser test than the ones I have had? WHO AM I, to think I should get any lesser test than the one today?
What a blessing is IN the test? What a revelation of God! Who he is, who you are and who you are becoming… PERFECT LOVE DRIVES OUT FEAR, right?
DO NOT FEAR THE TEST, it is a revelation… How can I find my next test? How can I embrace it head on? –Fear ONLY the Lord.
I don’t know if it is a “FREE” gift… truly, truly I wonder… I know each of you have known a minister in your life… ever been through their struggles? Ever seen the way they are attacked for the gospel? Paul talks about being beaten, chained, persecuted, etc. But I suppose the gift is free… just YOU will pay a price, and if you truly believe Christ, you will die with Him too, pick up YOUR OWN CROSS and follow.
Greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world! Isaac, as he lay on the altar for his father to kill him, revealed his obedience, and belief in “the resurrection of the dead” and in “a GOD who keeps his promises.”
This is the book I am going to next… if you get a chance today check out the SHORT FILMS- they blessed me last night, and I have attached the first chapter, for your convenience.
“Benaiah chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it.” II Samuel 23:20
I pray you guys are well today, and thank you for reading my thoughts.
