Yesterday a friend asked “All this work on sin, all this removing of the inappropriate, and adding of the Holy, what’s the end result?” “What happens?”
This to me is a great question. The end game question, that says… take this strategy to the end of the rope and what do you find? Because if, as I’ve recently seen, I often find myself in the same place I was three years ago, just with a bit of a different strategy. No real results developing, but feeling in the same loops, feeling the same isolated, lonely, lost feelings. Just with MANY fewer coping mechanisms, so the bottom is reached much quicker, and the circle shorter. Is that good, or bad? But then a verse hit me.
John 6.29 – 29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
In asking what the work of God is, all this work on sin, the end result is this. To KNOW CHRIST. TO believe IN HIM.
So, if in all this, God does any work at all in you, to will and to act according to his good purpose, it would be to believe in the one He sent.
Jeremiah 33.3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
