i must trust. gimm-i abili-ti.

Psalms 16.9-10  Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will also rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 

I may not see a good paycheck for another month.  I may not sell the ring or house on Coveridge.  I may have to ask my parents to loan me some money, but I know that I am in the Lord’s hands.  I may grasp onto all this world, but I know my body will go up in flames with the rest of this creation and my soul is secure in the Lord, in His commands and precepts.  

He will not abandon me unto the grave.  Even if my conclusions right now are wrong, I know He is good and His word lives in me and He can do more than I could ever ask or imagine.  I must trust. I must.  I learn not to lean on my own ways, but in all my ways to acknowledge Him and He will make my paths straight. (Pro. 3.5-6)  

Lord, search me and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts, see if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. (Ps.139.23-24) 

I call to you, in the promise that you will answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things I do not know. (Jer. 33.3)  Your foolishness is wiser than my wisdom, your weakness, stronger than my strength. (I Cor. 1.25)  

Lord, Give me the ability to trust, the fervor to find faith and the willingness to work to bring glory to your name through the daily and mundane.  For you are the God who causes the sun to rise and set each day and makes the flowers bloom.  Uphold your promise.  Bring the money necessary to sustain today, and a buyer, find grace for me in this moment of need, give me peace and rest.

  1. Here are a few verses that I have clung to time and time again during hardships and times of waiting. I hope they are an encouragement.

    Psalm 143
    “I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands t you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.”

    “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”

    Psalm 25
    ” The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them(you). My eyes are ever on the Lord for only he will release my feet from the snare.”

    Lamentations 3:21-24
    “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself. “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

    Isaiah 58:11
    “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
